Assessment, Evaluation, and Research (AER)
Although I have completed projects and presentations last semester using some assessment skills, I do not consider myself to be at the foundational level. This semester I am enrolled in the Student Assessment: Tests and Measurement course, which will further develop my proficiency and fuel my growing interest in research. At my internship in the Griff Center, I assisted one of the academic advisors with a project using Campus Labs Baseline programming. My role was to compile mass mailings using a previously developed survey inquiring about student satisfaction with services provided by the Griff Center. I began a report documenting last semester’s data, and based on the results I proposed recommendations to the Director on what to improve and how. While the final project will not be completed by the end of the semester, I was able to learn how to use assessment programming like Baseline, and how it helps services on campus determine whether or not their practices are aligned with the institution’s mission.
